PROJECT Concept: Development of the Simonovskaya Embankment
CLIENT STRELKA KB
In 2018 Juul | Frost Architects were invited by STRELKA KB to develop a concept proposal for the revitalization of the Simonovskaya Embankment in Moscow.
The proposal has a strong emphasis on quality of life, new typologies and public spaces in order to secure the development new attractive residential area by the river. With a starting point in the spirit of the place and the local historical heritage the area is revitalized. A grid creates connections and flows between the neighborhood and adjacent areas, while central intersections are programmed to promote a lively and urban atmosphere.
Green corridors secure access to the water and downscale the area into smaller communities.
Along the river a promenade is applied to create the opportunity for outdoor activities and to underline the qualities of being close to the water. Hybrid programming secures an urban life all day and supports the livability of the area.
