The New Sølyst
Nestled between the coastal park and the beach lies The New Sølyst. With views across Nyborg Fjord, the large windows are never without purpose, drawing the unique light reflected from the fjord’s deep into the home.
The homes are divided between two- and three-bedroom rental apartments in one building and three- and four-bedroom owner-occupied apartments in the other. A shared feature of all units is their south-facing balconies, which offer uninterrupted views across the fjord. Each home is provided with its own parking space, integrated into the project’s functional infrastructure.
The landscape plays a central role in the overall design. A recreational coastal area will be established along the waterfront, with new pathways connecting Sølyst to the surrounding lakeside park, the beach, and nearby neighborhoods. This provides both residents and the wider public with access to green spaces and close proximity to the water.
The project brings together high-quality housing, coastal protection, and the site’s strong natural assets within a single cohesive vision. The New Sølyst is conceived as a residential development that both supports Nyborg’s urban growth and fosters a sense of community at the intersection of park, beach, and fjord.
The coastal location comes with responsibilities. The area must not only be opened up to the residents of Nyborg through pathways, parkland, and access to the beach – it must also be safeguarded against the forces of the sea. For this reason, comprehensive coastal protection forms a key element of The New Sølyst’s landscape design, where recreational spaces and green connections are integrated with resilient solutions that protect both nature and homes from rising sea levels and extreme weather events.
