Public space as a catalyst for change
Public Space as a Catalyst for Change covers how can be approached as a catalyst for the development of 'the good city', both architecturally, socially and culturally.
The project includes both theoretical studies and practice-oriented methods.
Objective:
An interdisciplinary dialogue between architects, geographers, sociologists, ethnologists and planners is a prerequisite for an innovate development of public spaces and cities.
The project’s research and analysis will be founded in seminars where cross-disciplinary scholars and practitioners offer their specific views and knowledge.
In relation to the project we have published two anthologies. The anthologies will embrace the cross-disciplinary approach and introduce new perspectives and methods to engage with public space strategies of which Public Space 2 is avaible as a digital download.
Public Space 2 – The Familiar into the Strange is an architectural screenplay for people interested in and working with the development of our public spaces and our cities. Throughout the book we move from thoughts over case studies to action - a journey that results in the development of five different development strategies urban planners and developers can pursue.
”Vi har valgt at støtte projektet, fordi det vil bidrage til større viden om byens rum som løftestang for byernes generelle udvikling i et socialt, kulturelt og arkitektonisk perspektiv”
