Sundbo Senior Co-housing

The Senior Co-housing in Sundbo is conceived as the urban senior residence of the future, where social community and individual freedom go hand in hand.

The new senior co-housing community at Lergravsparken on Amager has been developed in collaboration with the Sundbo Residents' Group, fsb, and with support from Realdania. The housing has been built in collaboration between Juul Frost Arkitekter, Safe-Con as consulting engineers, and NIRAS as client advisors.

The building is an extension of Sundparken's existing social housing from the 1950s, and respectfully adapts to the neighbouring brick-clad housing blocks with pitched roofs.

With 22 social housing units, the project is centred around everyday community life, where the shared meal in the communal industrial kitchen in particular serves as the social engine. The architecture is strategically arranged in zones that ensure a fluid transition from private space to the life of the city.

Sustainability is understood broadly and encompasses both economic accessibility and social synergy, where facilities such as workshops and green outdoor spaces can be shared with the rest of Sundparken. Sundbo functions as an outward-looking senior co-housing community that, through openness and a culture of sharing, creates added value for both residents and the local area.
