As a part of The Trade Council of Denmark in MENA’s Green Building & Urban Development alliance Juul Frost Architects have delivered a pilot study on Sustainable & Healthy indoor climates for United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Education.

The study is based on a holistic approach that embraces both the urban, the physical, the social and the learning needs on an equal footing with technical requirements and technical analysis methods.

The approach measures the indoor climate both on the thermal (temperature), atmospheric (air quality), the visual (daylight, visibility) and the acoustic (sound) parameters. Calculations are performed with standards for the degree of wellbeing in a learning environment.

The aim of the project is to reduce absenteeism, improve the students health, promote progression in their learning curve and increase their sense of belonging and performance. While obtaining an overall sustainable reduction of the buildings CO2 imprint.

The project provides a generic toolbox to improve indoor environment in schools.
