School of the Future

How do we create physical environments that actively support learning, well-being and participation among children and young people?
That question formed the starting point for our feasibility study of a public school in Warsaw – presented at the Polish-Danish Schools of Resilience conference in Łódź.
The event gathered European experts around a shared ambition: to rethink the role of schools in the face of climate change, energy insecurity, youth mental health, and democratic decline. Our approach is holistic, linking six key focus areas – from indoor climate and biodiversity to circular economy and mobility – into a tangible, scalable plan for transformation.
The study demonstrates how existing school buildings can be reimagined through flexible learning environments, green roofs, rainwater harvesting, accessible outdoor spaces, and stronger integration with the local community. The school becomes more than a place where sustainability and citizenship are taught – it becomes a place where they are experienced, every day.
