Potentialet Kyrksæterøra
The town of Kyrksæterøra in the northern part of Norway faces a new era as the center of Hemne municipality, which requires that the unique cultural heritage and the connections to the magnificent nature are developed. The vision is a townscape that unites the experience of nature, culture and the low urban atmosphere.
Juul | Frost Ar- chitects have analyzed the city's potentials and have taken a strategic look at the town, that needs to be ur- banized in order to comply with demographic changes and to actualize the social potentials.
Kyrksæterøra is not to be urbanized on the premise of the metropolis, but on the conditions of the small town to foster what we term a “mini-urban life”. The mi- ni-urbanization is achieved through densification and the creation of new connections across town, which are the prerequisites for the experience of life and activity, and the social encounters between people, that characterize the urban, but on a small, intimate and local scale.
