Restaurant Skoven

Restaurant Skoven was inaugurated in 1937 and quickly became a popular destination for the people of Odense. Over the years, the venue has had several owners and served various purposes, most recently as a Jensens Bøfhus restaurant. With Barfoed Group’s acquisition of the property in 2018, a new chapter began: the creation of an refined restaurant within its historic setting, bringing the building’s original grandeur and unique location by Skovsøen back into focus.

Juul Frost Architects have led the restoration of the façades, partially returning them to a more original architectural expression. The project sought to re-establish a coherent identity across the various additions made over time, including the pavilion from 1936 on the western side of the property, through the reintroduction of decorative half-timbered detailing. At the same time, the main entrance and outdoor areas were redesigned and upgraded, ensuring that the venue feels both contemporary and respectfully renewed.
