1st prize in competition for architectural and urban design project
Samara has an exceptional location on the banks of the Volga and Samara River in the close vicinity to the spectacular nature of the Samarskaya Luka National Park and the Zhiguli Nature Reserve.
The architectural concept takes it starting point in the landscape, draws the local nature into the urban fabric across all scales and underlines Arena Parks identity as a green, sustainable part of Samara.
A green belt functions as climate adaption and the social link of the whole neighbourhood offering the residents access to recreational and communal spaces.
The green belt flows into the residential blocks and creates a permeable neighbourhood-structure with green semi-public courtyards and a network of passages throughout the whole quarter. It secures a liveable, pedestrian friendly neighbourhood, with intimate green communal spaces and access to nature, that invites to social activities, active living and promotes health.
