Årsta Torg is to be a new urban hub in the new city part Östra Sala Backe: Uppsala’s new flagship for sustainable development and innovative architecture.

The city part of Östra Sala Backe is located in a sub- urban area just outside Uppasala city center. The plan secures a common local identity and connects the new mixed-use area to the adjacent city parts through new connections.

426 dwelling of varying types and 10.000 m2 of busi- ness will promote a lively area, supported by the city part’s public spaces: The area’s narrow streets and central square surrounded by housing blocks with shops and restaurants at the ground floor, that will support a urban life around the new main square.

Juul | Frost Architects’ development plan shows the way for a city part and residential area of high quality, that will brand Årsta Torg as a sustainable and social neighborhood.
