Juul Frost Architects have been responsible for the construction-design and professional supervision of the landscaping at the cultural harbor. The harbour area in Elsinore has been transformed into a modern cultural center in respect of Kronborg Castle and its significance due to its location on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The project recreates parts of the historic fortification and thus highlights Kronborg's unique location. In addition, the cultural harbor supports the new culture center; Kulturværft and opens the city towards the water. The landscaping has been developed within the framework of landscape architect Jeppe Aagaard Andersen's comprehensive plan for the area. The project has been awarded the Paving Award 2012, The International Architecture Award 2014 and The Chicago Athenaeum.

The cultural harbor contains a number of improvements in relation to the historic landscape, infrastructure and the development of new urban spaces. In our design work, we have emphasized simplicity and high-quality materials to expose the historical values. The robust materials such as granite, hard wood and steel, together with over 13,000 m² of paving stone surfaces, now form a new urban space for informal meetings, events and recreation.
