Porcelænshuset was constructed in 1861 and expanded in 1919. The building belonged to the Aluminia faience factory and was used for pottery workshops where molds for the factory's tableware were created. In 1882, the Royal Porcelain Factory (today known as Royal Copenhagen) took over the pottery workshops. In 2005, the building was transformed into owner-occupied residences with 52 condominiums and named Porcelænshuset. The building holds a preservation-worthy status.

Taking inspiration from various urban housing types, an area is created that is attractive to a broad population. Emphasis is placed on flexibility in the layout, while the raw industrial construction materials and craftsmanship are still evident.

Juul Frost Architects, on behalf of the Sjælsø Group, have transformed Royal Copenhagen's factory buildings in Frederiksberg into residences. Drawing on the area's and buildings' history as valuable witnesses to the development of Copenhagen's industrial society, the factory complex's buildings are adapted and converted into housing. The high-ceilinged industrial spaces, with their distinctive character and construction, provide the framework for the design of simple apartment types and row houses within the existing buildings.
