Oktyabrsky Island
Juul | Frost Architects were invited by STRELKA KB to design a new urban neighbourhood at the Oktyabrsky Island in Kaliningrad.
The project comprises the overall structure of a
new dense mixed-use neighbourhood with green courtyards and urban spaces, more than 3500 detailed drawn dwellings, 10 integrated kindergar- tens, a school, commercial spaces, a hotel and hotel apartments: All designed with a consistent focus on well-being.
The plan empha- sises the human scale and high density, safety and health, functional diversity, flexibility and adaptability, climate comfort, energy efficiency and economic ex- pediency to secure a resilient green and urban district with a vibrant atmosphere.
The vision is of a mixed-use neighborhood character- ized by high livability, urban qualities and settings that promote quality of life.
